Simple question: should Steelers' defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau be in the hall of fame as a coordinator or player?

Basically the godfather of the blitz, plain and put, open and shut case...YES!

He should be in as both. The guy is a legend.

As a player, I think he should be in.

As a coach, I don't know.

The weird thing is, he's probably a better coach then he was a player, but I think the Hall is generally reserved for the best of the best head coaches, and LeBeau's only lasting success came as coordinator. Probably not good enough.

Well, theres the contributors section but as far as coaches id agree it has been that way so far. Do you think it should remain that way? That even the best coordinator wouldnt be good enough?

Um, yeah, didn't Paul Brown invent it in between the playbook and the facemask :p

Joking of course, LeBeau should definitely be in as a coach.

Well, I think the best kickers and punters should be in the Hall, so no, I don't thing LeBeau should be kept out, but he probably will be.

I think the question in this case ought to be, if there's no Dick LeBeau and the zone blitz scheme in Pittsburgh, do Cowher's defenses get him where he went? Does Tomlin win a Super Bowl?

I think the answer to both is an unequivocal no, so yes, he should be good enough.
