We've now gotten looks at most of the contenders for offensive rookie of the year, who wins it?
Just heard an interesting theory on ESPN that it could very well be Mark Sanchez, but I don't necessarily agree with it.

I'm definitely leaning towards Sanchez...he looks to do the most this season (I believe it's a foregone conclusion he's going to be Rex Ryan's guy in Week 1).

I'd say Moreno, but with those injuries and that loaded backfield they have, and with how unpredictable Mcdaniels is, I can't pick him anymore.
I have no idea at this point, because no one seems to be in a situation where it's guaranteed that they'll be a go to guy for their team right away.

I think the choice right now this early has to be Sanchez by default. He will be in a very favorable position for a rookie quarterback, and quarterbacks are usually going to be the first choice for this award if they play well.
I don't think any of the wide receivers have a legitimate chance for this. Offensive linemen aren't going to win it. I think Moreno is out of the running for the reasons Tex mentioned. Donald Brown will be splitting too much time with Joseph Addai to win the award. I think that leaves Beansie Wells as the only guy left to really challenge Sanchez, and he plays on a pass happy offense.

Moreno wins if he can log 13 games.

He still has to get a ton of touches though, that's the thing. It's hard to predict how Mcdaniels will spread out those touches between him, Hillis, Buckhalter, and Jordan. Plus, how long will that offense be staying on the field on drives with Orton at the realm?? If there weren't so many questions like that I'd go with Moreno as it would be an easy decision.
Now with the way Brown looked in that first Colts game, if Addai gets hurt then look out!!! Hell if Brown starts going on a terror, he just might take Addai's job early as well. Addai will most likely play well enough though to keep it as a time share, but brown is an intriguing name for this discussion as well.

I would say Moreno too, but I'm worried about what McD will do. I think it might be close between Sanchez and Hakeem Nicks.

The best offensive rookies are all Olineman but they would never win. Brown if Addai goes down. Sanchez has a good shot. I don't think the WR's will do anything so I'm going with Moreno. Not a lock but most likely.

I don't know if I can buy into Moreno for two reasons.....
#1 the injury
#2 the defense, the absence of Cutler and Marshalls issues
The kid could get off to a slow start if his injury lingers. Furthermore he obtained that injury like right after he started playing, I hope this isn't the first sign to an injury prone career.
The defense is the larger issue to me though. Nobody, including the Broncos own coaches, sound confident in that defense this year. They could be bad, like really really bad. Without a prolific passing game to keep them in games this year the Broncos may not find themselves running the ball much in the 2nd half of games if at all.
My best guess for OROY this year is going to go to Percy Harvin. I think talent and opportunity line up perfectly for this guy.

Yeah, but no one has really seen how well he'll be worked into this offense yet. It might take him a while to get used to being an NFL type of WR running traditional routes.
I think Hakeem Nicks has a better shot than Harvin at this point. That could change though if I see Harvin do some crazy stuff in these next few pre season games.

I don't really think Nicks will get the ball enough to win it. As for Harvin, if he is used the way I think he should and he returns punts, he might have the best shot with the total yards he could put up.

I don't think you're going to see any crazy stuff out of him in the next few preseason games. I think they're going to use Harvin alot in a specialty role early on and ease him into the system more as the season goes on.
They aren't going to show those specialty packages in the preseason, no one ever does.

I will go with Sanchez as well. I think it will be him or one of the running backs mentioned above(Brown, Wells, or Moreno). I don't see any of the WR's really getting enough looks to be serious contenders, but there are some darkhorses there at WR: Hakeem Nicks, Kenny Britt, and Percy Harvin(if O Doyle is right about how they use him and he doesn't get hurt).

If not I'll go with the only QB that looks to be a starter week one in Josh Freeman. Moreno may struggle with injury the rest of the year and Wells hasn't looked all that good. McCoy may be the only early round RB I think has a real chance. There are a few WRs out there but they always seem to get boned when it comes down to the OROY. Unlike most I am expecting Bay to put up good #s as will Harvin, Austin Collie, and Britt. I'm also liking Shawn Nelson more and more but a TE as OROY I just can't see that either. Brandstater, Null and Rashad Jennings are darkhorses IMO as well. I will LOL if Jennings takes it as the 250th pick. Nate Davis is anther I'd love to see but SF would be nuts to not give Hill a full season.

I'm gonna go with the guy Dreamers should have picked, Shonn Greene. I love his skillset, and I think one way (outplaying Jones) or another (Jones injury), he'll be the Jets' feature back soon.

Tis hard to be a feature back when you've got last years 1300 yard stud rusher ahead of you as well as one heck of a dangerous change of pace guy. I like Shonn Greene but he's got alot of shining to do and one hell of a hill to climb.

I know, but I still see it. Either by force or by injury, Greene will be the #1 back. And the change of pace guy is just that.

Is that because you like Shonn Greene that much or because you just aren't feelin Jones?

It's mostly the former, but also a bit of the latter.
Jones has been one of the most disrespected and underrated players in league history, why stop now? But dude is 31 now. Who knows?

I'm trying not to be too much of a homer here. Sanchez was already mentioned and I love Greene but he is just not likely to get a lot of carries this year. Leon will be the featured back and Thomas is still the pounder. I'm still hoping we can trade Thomas before the season starts but it is highly unlikely. I still think we could get a 2nd rounder from someone coming off last years performance. If that happens then yes I love Greenes odds.

A 2nd rounder for a 31 year old RB? Oooooh, im not so sure about that. I'd think most teams would be content to keep that pick and draft a back.

There are a few teams out there that have seen 0 from there current RBs so why not give a 2nd for a proven back if you think he could be the diff? There are at least 6 teams still looking for a good RB before the start of the season. And a few that may need anther to fill injuries. Tell me the Browns wouldn't think about it. He could help out a lot there. Seahawks could use him to take back their division as well. Zona may see him as a good option if they truely think they can make it back to the SB. I also would count out the Chiefs, Bengals, Bills, GB, or any team with injury concerns going into the season.

You'd have to have a team that feels they're a RB away from winning a Superbowl and is willing to shell out the pick on the outside chance they win it this year or next or that pick makes no sense to give up. RB is one of the easiest positions in the NFL to replace and 2nd round RB's have more value than 31 year old veterans who are unhappy with their contract situation.

They tried him out there during training camp and it was a complete disaster. He was having balls bounce off his face mask and shoulders, and he tried catching balls over his head instead of using the standard form of catching a punt. He will return kickoffs where he looked very comfortable though.

The Cheifs wouldn't do that.. they already have Jamal Charles and Larry Johnson... even with injuries it would be too much money invested in Running Backs..

I see your name is truly deserved. I do like the look of Painter though. He reminds me a bit of Tony Romo actually. He's got a long way to go I think though, but lucky for him he has a great guy there to learn from. Also, Jim Sorgi should still hold onto his spot as number one clipboard holder for another season.
