Looking back a few threads, I recall Brandon Jacobs saying that Tony Romo wasn't that good.
Let's reverse the question: with just two 1,000 yard seasons to his credit, is Brandon Jacobs that good, and is he worth his contract?

From watching him play, I think he is more than just a guy who bowls people over. He is a legit back and as long as he can stay healthy he'll be one of the better ones in the league.

I feel the exact opposite of OSU. I feel Brandon Jacobs is a great comittee back who gets alot more respect than he should be due thanks to the great comittee he participates in and the great line he runs behind and the great FB who leads the way for him. From a technique standpoint the guy is aweful, he runs too high he makes lazy cuts, he doesn't utilize his blocking very well, he doesn't keep his feet moving consistently, the guy is nothing but a big powerful back who can hit the hole hard (at times) and push people back. I have never really been impressed by him, he's always been very raw. He's not a complete back by any means but as long as they keep that line, FB, and comittee strong around him he'll be just fine. I don't know what his contract looks like because I haven't looked into it but I don't think he's paid like an elite back (correct me if im wrong) and he certainly shouldn't be.

He runs too high? Hes 6'4" dude lol. He has lowered his running frame since he was a rookie. I agree with you that hes very raw. He is very fast for his size and has shown that he can beat people to the outside although hes obviously best inside. Is he an elite back in the NFL? No. Is he a complete back? I think hes getting there. He isnt a spectacular receiving option thats for sure. But I think he makes progress every year.
As far as his contract goes. As an NFL team, you have to pay the guys that establish your identity. If you are a passing team you pay those big-time WRs. If you're a team like the Giants, you pay that O-line and that big bruising RB.
