Vick-to-Pats rumor continues to pick up steam | ProFootballTalk.com (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/07/31/vick-to-pats-rumor-continues-to-pick-up-steam/)
The basis for the rumor is rumors that sometime last night/early this morning, Vick was seen on a flight to Boston.
It's a rumor, but it's one that's starting to build some credibility, and it'd make sense on a lot of levels. Brady, Vick, and Moss in one offense...wow...

Well yeah, I don't see how it's a bad move for them, but I'd hate to see Vick with a SB ring right after he gets out of jail. Man that would stink!

Turns out, the rumor, just a rumor. Vick's in bankruptcy court today, not Boston.

I'm a Pats fan and I don't want to see Vick on the Pats.
I'd really like to see Vick in Detroit.

This would actually be a brilliant move for the Patriots.
Not only would they have the quintessential pro football quarterback in Tom Brady, they would also be able to let him come back from injury a little easier with some Wildcat offense put into the mix. If Ronnie Brown can play quarterback in the Wildcat, you better believe that Vick will be able to play it. I'm not saying he's the most gifted passer out there, but he doesn't need to be, he was made for the Wildcat. He is blessed that he is coming back into the league this year when everyone is trying to find a quarterback to run that position.
But I digress. They would be able to use Vick all over the field because of how many playmakers they have on offense. He could be a scat back, a wideout, a quarterback, run the Wildcat, and then with all of that, he's throwing the ball to Randy Moss and Wes Welker. And they've also got Brady to toss a few passes too, I guess.
And since when has Bill Belichick ever cared about Public Relations?

Since...um....
Going back into the history books, resignation on a napkin, his time in Cleveland, us wanting to run him out of town on a rail for cutting Bernie, us wanting to run him out of town on a rail for losing seasons...New York Giants defensive coordinator under Parcells...time at Wesleyan University...
I'm going to have to say the last time he cared about public relations was...well, if he did at all, it was before he started coaching.

i woud rly like to see this happen... for a few reasons. If vick is a complete success he will be on the patriots not another team we would end up running into.
He wont sign a crazy deal, its going to be affordable and if all he does is become a 3rd or 4th wr or a hybrid type halfback who gets the ball 5 times a game, its pricey but not a bust.
At this point or QB rank past Brady is terrible and though people dont beleive he can come back with enough skills to be any sort of a qb. With BB i feel he can do just fine if given time and coaching.
For many reasons i would be more then happy to see him on the Pats.

Yeah, I agree with all of this. I just don't want to see Vick on a team like this, that will most likely make it to the SB. The dude hops right out of jail and gets a SB ring? I wouldn't like that to much. It won't be the end of the world or anything, but man, don't want to see that happen right away for him.

While I see NE contending, to say they'll definitely make it to the SB is absurd.
They have a tough schedule, Brady is coming back from a shredded knee, the D is re-configured and needs time (so does Brady), and you know what?
NE doesn't automatically get the penthouse in the AFC East. They will have to fight for it. They can get it, sure....but for several recent years it was their's by default. That has CHANGED.
Miami is in the mix for sure. And while I doubt the Bills, why rule them out? And while I think the Jets are in for a fall, that's no way a sure thing.

But this is what I've been trying to tell you every time you want to throw Detroit into the mix.
Vick should go to a team with an established position in the league. A team that can afford to give a roster spot to what has to currently be considered a project player, a team like the Pats, like the Eagles, Steelers, Colts, etc.
A team like the Lions should not use (likely waste) a roster spot on Vick at this time.

OK....I have a history of losing bets.
I will bet you NE never ever signs Vick.
