Well, now that he's in, will he start?

Let's see how he picks up the playbook and go from there. I know new coaches like to hang their hopes on new QB's early, to it could certainly come to that, but let's give him a few weeks before we go down that route.

At this point, I will say 70/30 that no, he will not start the season.

I was expecting more considering how much Stafford and Sanchez signed for. 5 years 36 mil is not bad at all. I think this was a pretty down to earth contract.

You're talking $36 million for the 17th pick in the draft?

That's huge and way out of line with what will be paid to the 16th and 18th picks.

Quinn signed for 6 mil a year and he was only the 22nd pick in 07. Considering that Sanchez is do 12mil+ and Stafford 12+ mil 7 mil a year is really not that bad. All 3 teams overpaid IMO but given what the 1st two signed for this is about right IMO. Less then 10 mil guaranteed yes they are paying a nice price but at that he is movable at least. I was expecting 8 mil a year with around 16 guaranteed here.

Quinn didn't sign for $6 million a year. His contract's maximum value, which was based on meeting certain incentives in playing time, most of which he's already missed unless he starts for all of this season. His base contract was for around $20.2 million over five years, which is roughly $4 million a year.

With rookie talks heating up, Bucs have work to do on Josh Freeman’s contract - Tampa Bay Buccaneers: BucNews.com (http://www.bucnews.com/2009/06/10/with-rookie-talks-heating-up-bucs-have-work-to-do-on-josh-freemans-contract/)

All contracts have stipulations I'm sure Freemans contract has some of that to. Leinart agreed to a six year deal with the Cardinals worth a total of $51 million but I'd guess he did not make that much either. It does seem like a high raise when compared to Flacco's contract last year, but given they passed the new cap a high hike was expected for some picks in this draft.

That's a lot of money on a contract for a 17th round pick IMO.

I'm thinking that they believe that he'll be around for a long time.
