I'm assuming a four year deal here based on the overall value, but Maualuga is in the fold for the Bengals now.

The defense is better off with this guy learning the system and being a spot performer for at least the first-half of the season. I think he has a huge upside, but we need to mold him accordingly and keep him healthy.

There's good potential here for the future. You've also got a former teammate of his in Keith Rivers, and the two have played together extensively in college. Communication being as important as it is between linebackers and other levels of the defense, that's an added bonus, at least early on, that could pay dividends for both players.
