Chad Greenway is to low
Vrabel is to high
Peterson is to high
I would replace Harlson with Justin Smith.

Adalius Thomas is waaaaay too high. He hasn't done a thing in New England. Lamar Woodley didn't even start a game in 2008, and he's still got 4 more sacks than Thomas has had the last two seasons.

Well the Niners use Smith as a DE even in their 3-4, so why would he be on the OLB list. Haralson and Lawson are the OLBs in their system, and Haralson is pretty underrated. The guy had 8 sacks last year in 10 starts.

Shuan Philips is too high.

You really confuse me sometimes. You say that the Chargers problems are all centered around injuries, and Phillips drop off in production last year was completely due to injury. Now you're saying he's too high? Why? Because he didn't have another 8+ sack season in 2008 when offenses could double team him since their was no other viable pass rushing threat on the Chargers defense with Merriman out because of injury? Phillips still had 7.5 sacks in 2008, and for his career, he averages about 7 sacks a season. That's pretty damn good for a #2 option. Phillips didn't have a great 2008, but that was because the Chargers had no one else to take the double teams off Phillips, and because Ted Fat Albert Cottrell stopped blitzing Phillips for large chunks. After Cottrell got canned, Phillips started to have success, even when facing double teams. With Merriman back, expect Phillips to be right back up to his 8.5-10 sacks a season line, which would make him in about the right spot on that list.

Where did I say Phillips was effected by injury? The only injury he was effected by was Shawne Merriman's. In Merriman's abscene, he proved his nickname to be true, 'the other guy', why? because he couldn't hold up without Merriman. Phillips only advantage blitzing is his burst off the line, he can't bull rush and he can't shed blocks effectively. Without Shawne Merriman he's just a barely above average player.

I never said that Phillips had his own injury. But Phillips was very much effected by the injury of Merriman. Phillips faced a ton of double teams since the only other pass rushers the Chargers had were Jyles Tucker, Marques Harris and Antwan Applewhite. There are very few players on this list that would be able to put up a ton of sacks if they had Tucker, Harris and Applewhite rushing along side them.

To top it off, Phillips wasn't used properly for the first half of the season. Cottrell rarely was aggressive with his blitzes, especially when the Chargers were behind, and he asked Phillips to drop into coverage A LOT. When Rivera took over and used Phillips properly, Phillips was a force. 7.5 sacks isn't a bad season by any stretch.

And if you think he is ranked way too high at 14, then give me 15 or 16 players who should be ranked ahead of him. Phillips is averaging 7.7 sacks a season in his career, which is pretty good considering he only had 4 his rookie year. There aren't too many players around him on this list that have that same kind of production.

Adalius Thomas brings a lot more to the table than just rushing the quarterback. He's an extremely versatile player. By the way, he was put on IR last year and was spending a lot of time in 2007 playing inside linebacker.

If he's such a versatile player, it's strange that Woodley, a player that specializes in rushing the passer, still managed the same amount of tackles per game as Thomas did last year. Adalius has also caught just one interception in his two years with the Patriots.

For all his versatility, it sure isn't showing up in the statistics.

Thomas missed almost half of 2008. In 2007, he had 78 tackles. Anyway, it's not how often you make tackles, but where you make those tackles that really matters anyway.

Thomas might have only intercepted one pass in about 1.5 seasons with the Patriots, but he also deflected 12 passes in that time. Wooley only had 2 pass deflections in 2008 and 0 in 13 games as a rookie.

Pass coverage doesn't really show up as a standard statistic anyway, and Thomas is a linebacker who can even cover wide receivers.

LOL at Kampman being listed as an OLB; he has been in a 3 point stance his entire career

Yeah I know they'e switching to 3-4, but he's been a DE his entire career and all of the sudden he's one of the best outside linebackers? Makes no sense.

They're predicting who will be the best OLB in 2009, so it isn't such a ridiculous idea, since he was one of the best defensive ends for a while.
