Anyone hoping that the end of spring practice would mean the end to the quarterback competition for the Cardinals was sorely disappointed.
Five quarterbacks played in the spring game, with Justin Burke and Adam Froman getting most of the time with the first team, and Zack Stoudt also putting up good numbers. The first is a transfer from North Carolina State, the second arrived on campus this winter from junior college, and the third is a redshirt freshman. All ended spring camp with the best claims to the job, but coach Steve Kragthorpe said he didn’t expect to name a starter until about 10 days before the season opener on Sept. 5.
