This was a great pick. He's a natural and has 40" vertical with a lot of basketball experience. excellent.
he and Chung look to be the real deal.
They showed Bulter coming up and planting a few RB's.
The Pats added some serious attitude on D, but again not at LB.

Im just mad about the whole draft... Butler was the only good pick... they had so many pick and they were so many good players left and he decideds to pass on them... and now they trade hobbs...

hey man, part of me totally agrees. Passing up on Matthews with the first and then Maualuga and Barwin with the second was painful. the good part is who they did pick.
now I'm YouTubing all the picks and McKenzie out of USF is another read and react hitting machine. and they got WR Tate, Hakeem Nicks running mate who looks really heads up.
so for me, it's not who they actually picked but who they could've picked.
they added some killer players, but they might have passed on the chance to get another Mayo type star at OLB.
we shall see, but I think Matthews is that guy.

To be totally honest, after watching Patrick Chung highlights on YouTube, I'm starting to think this guy is another Bob Sanders/Rodney Harrison.
Very smart playcalling safety who hits like dynamite. IMHO, the Pats had front seven problems last year and that was with Vrabel. But a legit box safety addresses that problem to a degree.
With cards the Pats dealt themselves in the draft, I wouldn't be surprised if we see more 4-3, 'cause you put this bulldozer Brace next to Wilfork at DT, the Pats start resembling the Giants front four.
as a consolation, the Pats did take this kid McKenzie from USF and he looks good on tape.
But, my goodness, they "could" have gotten both Matthews and either Maualuga or Barwin.
wow

I'm of the (minority) opinion that McKenzie might be better than any of those guys you passed on. The guy just hits and hits hard.

After actually watching on YouTube, I totally agree. I remember last year watching Mayo in some highlights and every play you just saw the ball snapped, he turned his head to the point of attack and kaboom!
McKenzie looks to be in the same mold.
But Chung looks like a pycho. I must have watched a half dozen plays where he blows the guy up and the ball comes out.
Two big hitting kids on D and special teams.
And Butler has great form hitting too.
quick hitting rookies. and highly coachable.
excellent

At this point, the thought of a DB who tackles a ball-carrier and STOPS him is a dream:) Unless Dean Pees schemes otherwise, Chung/Butler will change this excuse for a secondary.
