Draft day is here, what will the Browns do today? Discuss the action here!

Deal with the Jets, terms still forthcoming, but Sanchez goes to New York, and I'm a very happy camper :D

The deal is this:

The 17th overall pick
The 52nd overall pick
DB Abram Elam
DE Kenyon Coleman
QB Brett Ratliff

for

The 5th overall pick (Mark Sanchez)

I think we did alright on this one. Ratliff seems to indicate that one of our QBs will be moved (probably Anderson from everything I've read).

Where do you see the Browns going with #17?

I can't really argue with this deal. It was a great trade up I'm surprised this went though. The Browns must really like Ratliff. We took the wrong guy and now we need a DE even more so it does hurt us quite a bit.

I like Ratliff from what I saw of him in the preseason last year. I'm really thinking there's a deal in the works for one of our other two signal callers though, otherwise him as a throw in in this deal doesn't make much sense.

Browns traded down again (third time) this round. Added two sixth round picks with the last two trades.

I just wish they were getting more than 6s for it.

Same here, although I'll take the picks. We're moving down to still get our guy (whoever it is), and realistically, this is good. We have almost no second day picks before today, now we have some.

How can the Browns be so trade happy and yet to find a partner for Edwards?

New York still hasn't picked. I'm not surprised if something's announced when they're on the clock there.

I hate to quote myself but the Pats proved my point. Why were the Pats able to get more for lower picks?

More interest in those picks from teams that were willing to pay more.

but it seems teams are always willing to pay the Pats more.

I like the Mack and Robiskie picks, but the other two are surprising. Personally I would have gone with Michael Johnson over Veikune.

Dropping 12 spots for a late second rounder and fillers. You guys didn't get enough in that trade IMO.

I don't know about that. Ratliff gives us flexibility with dealing Anderson tomorrow or later this spring/summer (because, let's face it, word out of Cleveland, Brady's their guy). He played very well during the preseason last year, and in fact, impressed the hell out of me when he tore us up.

Kenyon Coleman is a guy who will start, same with Elam (who we'd signed to an offer sheet earlier this offseason, the Jets matched it). These are guys who help this team fill holes without expending draft picks (which we lacked going into today, 5 total thanks to Phil Savage's ill-advised trades last year).

Overall, I'm liking what we came away with right now. More I hear about this whatever the hell his name is from Hawaii, more I like him.

You didn't read my post. I didn't say you guys got absolute crap, I said you guys could have gotten MORE, especially with Sanchez becoming the hottest draft day name. Being content and being greedy a lot of times is what separates losers and winners. Seemingly, every year you guys are happy about your draft, and every year thereafter you guys end up in a similar draft position. I understand it's a new regime now, but to me, the Browns were in a very dominant position and that's all they could get? The simple fact that everyone across the board is saying what a great deal it was for the Jets should tell you that the Browns should have asked for more

I'm going to have to agree with LA a litle.. I know the Browns got a few starters, but there were some teams that got first round picks next year for 2nd round picks.. Surely the Jets could have given their first rounder next year.

You failed to read what I said too then because I wasn't saying that. You said we didn't get enough, I say we got enough for our purposes.
