The Pittsburgh Steelers cleared out enough cap room to reach an agreement with Colts cornerback Keiwan Ratliff on a one-year contract Friday, according to a source.

The 27-year-old Ratliff visited the Steelers in the past week and was interested in signing, but James Harrison's deal ate up most of Pittsburgh's remaining cap room. With the departure of Bryant McFadden in free agency, the Steelers had an opening for a veteran cornerback.

The agreement with Ratliff takes some pressure off the Steelers to select a cornerback in the first couple of rounds of the draft Saturday and Sunday.

It's looking ever so likely that the first three picks are lineman of sorts... offensive and defense..

With only 5 career Int's he not really the ballhawk I was hoping we would get. But at least his tackling skills are more sharper than McFaddens.

Add him into the two guys we drafted, and I think we'll be okay. I hated to lose McFadden but someone should step up out of the group.

He really isn't expolsive as a return man. He gets his five yards per punt return, but really only had a handful of decent returns. He may turn out to be a decent nickel back, but I wouldn't put much faith in his other skills.

Yeah I don't think we have any plans for him to return kicks. His hands can't be any worse than Ike Taylor's so it's quite alright lol
