Steeler Fans,

What is the word on this guy?

Cincinnati picked running back Gary Russell off waivers Friday after he played in 15 games last season, including the postseason, and had five rushing touchdowns. The 5-11, 215-pound Russell was cut Thursday when the Steelers re-signed backup quarterback Charlie Batch.

He was the Steelers short down back for most of the season. He's not an every down back, but he was the most effective short yardage guy the Steelers had all year.

Short yardage specialist AND Kick Returner? bizzare combination.

Maybe this means we won't waste a draft pick on a running back now!

When Mikey Brown has the final say, you never know what will result.

I don't think a draft pick on a RB will be "wasted". In fact, I hope we take one with one of our third round picks. We have 11 draft picks. The Bengals don't trade alot when it comes to draft picks and that's a shame really. I don't think there is room on the roster for 11 picks! The Bengals have the opportunity to be a mover and shaker on draft day and get who they want....i just don't think it's going to happen. Too many times the Bengals stay complacent and accept who falls to them.

I didn't mean to say it like I did in the previous post, but I def agree with you that they should take a running back at some point, but the past couple times they've taken that route, they failed miserably to develop any of them. Examples being Perry and Irons...both of them were first day picks too, so if we take one, I sure hope its the fourth round or later, because we need to address the o-line and defense on the first day...

Steel City Insider is reporting that a home of Russell's was raided for mary-jane:

Gary Russell Released Do To Marijuana Bust In Columbus? | Steelers Depot Blog (http://www.steelersdepot.com/blog/2009/04/gary-russell-released-do-to-marijuana-bust-in-columbus/)

Not sure how credible this source is?

Considering the article states that he was released "do" to marijuana bust, I'll wait for a little more credible source.

That's how we do.
