The Green Bay Packers aren't the only ones who are interested in Greg Paulus.
According to sources close to the situation, the former Duke point guard was in Ann Arbor on Tuesday meeting with Michigan football coach Rich Rodriguez about the possibility of playing this season for the Wolverines.

Ummm, if this kid has a chance at a pro career in basketball, why come back for one season at UM and risk getting injured? This year could be another throw-away season for the Wolverines, so why not let Forcier get as much experience as possible?

In all reality, the guy doesn't have much of a chance of playing at the next level. He was one hell of a QB prospect back in the day and one year playing in a system like Michigan's could give him a chance at making it on somewhere in the NFL.

so does anyone know why he chose Duke BB over ND football? Was it for the school or does he like BB better? I don't see how he can just pick up and play football again at a high level. This will be an interesting story to follow

I remember seeing him play int the HS Army All American game in San Antonio...and he made it seem liked he enjoyed playing BB better, and wanted to go to Duke and play for coach K.
If he wanted to play BB and Football, he could have at ND, so I think it's clear he thinks of himself as a basketball player, even though he was a talented, and highly touted, QB prospect.

When you're good at two sports and have to choose one or the other, it's pretty hard to turn down the opportunity to go to DUKE and play for Coach K. Not many people get that opportunity. If I had to choose between that and playing football at a big level program, I'd choose DUKE. Might even consider that over the Notre Dame opportunity as well (playing both sports).

Ya you get the duke education and you get immediate playing time in basketball at duke. You get the notre dame education playing football..but you probably won't play much early and may not ever.

Considering how many underclassmen they played a couple of years ago, I think he could have played early at ND.

If I could go back and give up my current job to play one more year of football... i'd do it in a heartbeat. It's obviously not about the money for this kid. He wants to play. I say let him. I think he's making a mistake but when that itch kicks in after a few years of being out of it... phew. Let him play. Give him what we all secretly want inside our own hearts. I'll be rooting for him.

Well I think his first two years he would have been behind Quinn, then you got Clausen coming in...
Anyways, you know football...you could be a bright bright star in high school, be a #1 recruit and then fall flat on your face. The risk-reward of playing basketball is much better

Rodriguez has offered Paulus a scholarship and a chance to COMPETE for the starting spot.
There is no way this can really hurt the long term future of this team. It's a one year thing, no recruits will get pissed or anything like that. It's not a long-term scholarship spot he's taking up. So why not? I know it might take away from Forcier's development, but in the same regard, wasn't another worry about this team their QB depth? Well now they have three.
But by the by, Tate actually finds it funny. So if you think it will shake his confidence.. It won't.
"He mentioned Greg Paulus being at the practice and thought it was pretty funny,” Jason Forcier wrote in an e-mail to ESPN.com. "Tate is not worried about it all. Colt McCoy can be transferring into Michigan and it wouldn't faze Tate one bit. He is one of the most competitive kids I know."
Here's a question..
More Starts in 2009-2010.. Greg Paulus or Mike Paulus? haha

they were talking to cutcliffe at duke and cutcliffe said he talked to greg and decided that while paulus may be able to play football....there was no way he could play QB, it didn't sound like he was saying it because they have a solid QB in lewis but rather because paulus hadn't play in four years......that was duke.

The point I was trying to make is that considering the kind of athlete this kid is, they would have found a spot whether it be at WR or DB.
