On the heels of Patzphanatiq's look at the surprises and disappointments in the NFL, Schaddy takes a look at college football's counterparts. 2006 saw the rise of former heavyweights and the emergance of some solid programs, while perennial powerhouses fell on their face. Just who and what led to the season's surprises and disappointments? The answers are all here.

I take it you wrote this before Arkansas lost to LSU?

No he didn't... Here's the end part of his article.

With a tough home loss to LSU, the Hogs likely won't play in a BCS bowl game, but they've certainly shown their doubters that they are a top program. Nutt has assembled a tough, talented squad that has the youth to be a major factor in the SEC for the forseeable future. How's that for silencing your critics?

The Razorbacks were supposed to finish 4th in the SEC WEST this year, not the entire SEC, but just their division. They had a 7-0 start to the SEC season and ended up first in the West. They were certainly one of the biggest surprises this year and have a 10 win season.

So Arkansas is being doubted again. Apparently they have no shot at beating the Gators since "the Hogs likely won't play in a BCS bowl game".

:lol2: DT, I'm hardly doubting the Hogs, in fact I'll be rooting for them in the SEC title game to avoid them beating the living hell out of Wisconsin in the Cap One Bowl. That sentance was worded the way it was because they are coming off a tough home loss to LSU, and if I was a betting man I'd have my money on Florida. I have full confidence they can get the job done, but I think there's a slightly better chance Florida will take it. And if Arkansas loses the SEC title game, they won't play in the BCS. I'm not trying to hate on them, they're just in a position where I think it's more likely they won't play in the BCS. I take nothing away from them by that; I enjoy watching them and I think they've had a hell of a season. If they beat the Gators it would be no shock at all.

The perhaps you should have phrased it by saying their only chance of getting a BCS bowl is by beating the Florida Gators. The way you phrased it makes it sound like they already lost.
