I have a question.

How can you call it "Todd Grantham's 3-4 defense?" That makes no sense to me. That scheme change was a byproduct of hiring Romeo Crennel as the head coach. Obviously hes a defensive minded coach who has little if any offensive coaching history at all. The defense is his.

In Philly its no secret that Andy Reid is the one responsible for the west coast scheme that we run on offense. That doesnt mean that he didnt utilize and consult with his offensive coordinator. It would be a big stretch to call it Brad Childress's offense though.

Andy Reid's also the one calling the plays on Sundays.

(On how similar his version of the 3-4 is to the version that Romeo had in New England) - "Our versions are pretty similar. They are similar philosophies so I don't think that there will be a big transition."

That's a quote from when Grantham was hired last season. He's ultimately the one calling the plays on the field and designing the defense from week to week with input from Romeo, which is unlike the relationship Childress and Reid had in Philly.

its gonna be interesting to watch Frye this year. Its a shame Edwards is out til like week 8 (maybe it was 4, i forget what i read), otherwise they could be that much more of a threat. Winslow will be intersting aswell.

Edwards is tentatively scheduled to return in Week 7 against Denver, so he'll still end up playing 10-11 games.

Great stuff. I only wish Browns RBs would just stop having these glimpses of brilliance, because it just makes it so hard to give up on them. William Green breaking out late in his rookie year when he was supposed to be wearing down from the long season made it hard to give up on him. And the way Suggs started ripping it up late in the season a year later (remember his amazing performance against the Bengals?)

It just makes it so hard to find out who's capable of what. Ruben Droughns, we all thought, made it clear cut who was gonna be "the man" but then he goes out and mucks it up some more. We have so much potential in that backfield, but it seems like we've been playing "what ifs" since 99. Shame.
