Our own Tom Tereshinski and Chris "Raiden" Grewe go toe to toe on the issue of whether or not the Titans made the right choice in going with Vince Young with the third overall pick. Hold onto your seats folks, this one could be a doozy of a battle of wits!

Have to go with Raiden on this one, the Titans made the first mistake of the draft and what may prove to be the biggest one too..................the bottom line is you need the Coaches players not the owners........Owners need to worry about the cost of Nacho's and how to pay the #3 pick not who the coaches should use to lead the team....that is why he pays them right? He pays coaches to coach? scouts to scout? maybe owners should own?

Of course I disagree with Raiden. As far as Bud Adams involvment, he only said who he liked a week or two before the draft but months before it's been known that g.m. Floyd Reese liked Young. I know Chow may have wanted Leinart but Reese has his opinion and in the end his opinion is what counts and he is more than qualified to make that pick seeing as how he's done it for years and years.

As far as the pick, I definitely think VY is the right guy. People say Leinart is more ready to play but it doesn't matter who you are you're going to struggle when you finally get on the field and I think Young's athletisism will help him more than Leinart. I think Leinart needs a super line to succeed in the NFL. Do the Cards have that...I really don't know but I do know that Titans don't and Young will be able to make up for it with his vision and speed. Of course if McNair is here I think it would help improve his passing skills but if not it won't be a huge blow. There's still a guy named Chow who is very good at learning up young QB's and I think that'll be the case here. Young definitely needs a couple of years before he's ready to destroy defenses but I really think that time will come.

Who is Tom Tereshinski by the way?
Also what is Eli's problem under pressure..?
I like the Point Counterpoint articles because I like to see both sides of the story too.

I think that Young was the right choice though. He's a playmaker and he's got a good arm. We all know of his running ability but what you fail to realize is that he is 6'5. Michael Vick is a mere 6'0, which hurts his ability. The only great short QB who ran that I know of is Doug Flutie, and look at how many championships he's won.

McNabb still uses his running ability to avoid blitzing LBs and defensive ends, and Young does the same thing. I think he panics a little bit and whenever he sees an open area he runs, but with experience he can learn. Norm Chow is a great QB coach for Young and I don't see any real problem with his mechanics. Unless he is throwing over a LB it won't really affect him and with his running ability it's not like he won't be able to find some clear space.

The question about Leinart is his strength, and he really does not have that much. When you look at it though, Pennington doesn't either, yet in 2002 with his deadly accuracy he was a top QB in the league. I believe Leinart can be like Pennington, but he's also got a little mobility, he's not that slow.

Both of these guys have alot of upside but I think whoever will be successful in the NFL needs to work VERY hard in their early days and get in shape. They need to be alot stronger than they are coming out of college to absorb big blows and need to work hard on being precise with everything. I myself have a throwing motion that many people say is exactly like Vince Youngs and I have no problem with it.

As for the more successful career? I say Leinart. He's been blessed to have fallen to the Cardinals. They have a ton of young studs on the team on defense and offense and have really completed it. I mean what more could he ask for? Two Pro Bowl WRs, a Pro Bowl RB....now they need to focus on the line and they are a very good team in 3 years I say.

Eli has terrible footwork and throws of his backfoot when he starts feeling pressure. I think that's what they pointed out.

And I definately think that Leinart would have been the better pick. You draft players to a system in the NFL. And Leinart is undoubtedly the better fit for the system.

Manning's problem under pressure is that, when he feels it, his footwork goes awry and he panics. His mechanics turn helter skelter. It's been that way since college, and it has not changed in the pros. He's got huge problems with it.

Mark my words, the Cardinals will not be a good team in 3 years. They should be a good team this year. Last year, they had a top 10 defense, and it should be better this year- they did not lose anyone important, and each player is a year older, with more experience. They had the #1 ranked passing offense with no set QB, yet the dead last running game. With James, they immediately improve that runninggame, and can now control the clock after they get ahead passing. Regardless of the offensive line, the Cardinals should be competing for a WC spot this year.

I think that Vince Young was the right pick for the Titans because he has a similar style to Steve McNair. Young will fit Norm Chow's offense well and he was a better pick then Leinart. He will be more mobile and can just be a way better QB then Leinart.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Tennesee's staff is used to a QB with a good arm and some nice speed for a QB. Therefore, they made the right pick, if you ask me.
