Its the Turkey day special and dont you want to know who is serving up the candied yams (whatever those are) to opposing offenses? Well if you do you have come to the wrong place, this is a carnivorous listing so if your team isn't a predator that means its someone else pray. I am serving up two turkeys for the defnesive beasts to feast off of, you can stick a fork in both of these defenses they are done for the year, no matter what they do from here on out. The biggest news of note is that with the exception of the first week or so the NFC has lead the league in defense and that is the first time in like three years, but its not the pirates of the carribean anymore... now its the monsters of the midway, dig in and wipe that drool off your chin there are plenty of turkeys in this list for everyone.

I know I will get flack from the Philly fans on this one but hear me out. The offense has taken a lot of key blows this year, why is the defense playing un-inspired then, outside of the Charger game I haven't seen any killer instinct from the winged ones.

This one is a no brainer, injuries or not these guys are under achieving big time this year, will they ever pull their horns out of that dark southern location? and I dont mean Texas

Lol, love the humor, and those turkeys! Oh yeah, the ratings aren't that bad either!;)

Btw, since they say that defense wins championships, if the Ravens can find some loophole to make it into the playoffs, I see them going far.

I'd say the Bills deserve a Turkey after what the Chargers did to us...

Crunked, Good job on your rankings.

I'm glad to see the Giants are in the middle of the pack this week. ;)

Wow! The Patriots are so low!

Statistically, the Patriots are not good this year on defense.

They can't stop the pass to save their lives. From talking to the Pats fans, they tell me that they're REALLY missing Harrison. He was a force.

Lol,haven't you watched any of their games this season? Not exactly the defensive machine of the past 4 years. I am happy to report that they are gradually improving though. With Bruschi back, and Seymour getting healthy, and some of the additions starting to gel. They've had a few like Vrabel and McGinest that have been getting their jobs done all along, and especially lately. So, although they are #31 (and deservedly so) they are on the upswing.:)

The Giants don't allow touchdows......not on defense anyway.;)

That reminds me, do points scored by the opposing defense count against the PPG allowed total or do you factor those out?

Yeah, last week they were in his bottom 5 in the league and they are WAY better than that. I'm not ready to call them top 10 but I KNOW they're middle of the pack.

They're right where they should be this week IMO.

I don't understand that after a shutout, the browns are still ranked so low. Makes no sense to me. Points aren't everything... The offense is often terrible, which allows the other team to get good field position, and sets them up to score on a shortened field. Not to mention our punter is the equavalent of a 8th grade punter.

stuperman this rank is reflective of the entire season not just one game, so although that helps their stats in every way to pitch a shut out it isn't enough to rocket them up the charts here are some of their rankings defensively:
24th overall on yards per game average
18th on yards per play allowed
13th against the pass
28th against the run
24th in turnovers caused
and their strength of schedule is not weighing heavily enough in their favor to be an asset to them

I know it's over the whole season, which is why I'm not that upset. But they're ranked 29th on this list. I'm sure all those rankings you just listed 2 posts ago are better than some other teams above them. The browns held the colts to 13 points, thats very hard to do. They shut out the dolphins, also kinda challenging, no matter what offense a team faces. I know they won't be ranked top 10, and i never expected that. But, i just think they should be a little higher. Not 3rd or 4th from last.

The system you use to rank the defenses is a prime example of my signature, because the Raiders defense has really been coming on the last few weeks, but they continue to be ranked towards the bottom of the league. On the opposite end, the Ravens don't even come close to deserving the ranking they have. Nothing personal, just my opinion.

I just wanted to point out that pre-season, you ranked the Packers around 26th-28th, I think, and I assured you that they would be ranked signifcantly higher by the end of the year... at least around 15th-17th; so let's see if they can keep it up, but I feel pretty good about my assessment

True and true, and I said the Colt D would be in the teens so lets see if we are both right :)
