Alright, this is what the staff has come up with.

All the bets for the NFL games will be attached to the game previews in the This Week in the NFL subforum. All the bets will be spread bets. This means that the number you see next to the team name is the points they are getting or giving up.

For example: Right now the Washington Redskins are a 6 pt favorite over the Oakland Raiders. So in the bet it will show Redskins -6 and Raiders +6. This means that the Redskins have to win by at least 7 points for you to make your money. If you bet the Raiders, then if the Raiders win or lose by less than 6 points, you win the bet. So for example: if the Redskins win by 3 pts, then the people who bet on the Raiders win the money.

RaiderZord made up a matrix for the odds that is shown below. This matrix allows bigger odds for the underdogs and the games that are tougher to decide, while lower odds for the favorites and the easier games to bet on.
IF THE ODDS ARE 2/1, THAT MEANS YOU GET 2 TIMES WHAT YOU BET PLUS YOUR ORIGINAL BET. IF THE ODDS ARE 1/5, THAT MEANS YOU GET 1/5TH OF WHAT YOU BET, PLUS YOUR ORIGINAL BET. So for example you take bet 100 vcash on a team that has 1/5 odds and they win, you would get 120 vcash back(20 + your original 100) So you still win money even if it's only 1/5 odds.

The Odds for the Favorite:
games that are 0-3 in the spread would be 10/11
games that are 4-6 are 2/5
games that are 7-10 would be 1/3
games that are 11-15 would be 1/4
games that are 16up would be 1/5

The Odds for the Underdog:
games that are 0-3 in the spread would be 2/1
games that are 4-6 are 3/1
games that are 7-10 would be 4/1
games that are 11-15 would be 5/1
games that are 16up would be 6/1

YOU MAY DO MULTIPLE BETS, BUT IF WE FIND OUT THAT YOU BET FOR BOTH TEAMS, YOU WILL AUTOMATICALLY LOSE YOUR VCASH for the bet. If you change your mind then let <s>me or another staff member</s> Raiden know, so that your other bet will be discontinued.

Feel free to ask questions, make sure you understand this before you make any bets.

What's the point of even allowing multiple bets then. I know the spread may change but I don't get it. I say turn it off if you wanna prevent bets on both teams.

In case you want to place more money on it after you already did. Thats the only reason.

Well, my question is that what happens if you bet on the redskins and they lose by 7+ points. What happens then??

So like you think it'll be a blowout. And you think the raiders will blow out the redskins. How can you bet for that?

My question is ties with the spread. This happens alot. Lets say the Redskins are that 6 point favorite. And they win exactly by 6. Then what happens? Are all bets returned? No winners obviously, but original bets returned? Vegas calls this a push.

To counter this from becoming a frequent occurrence, maybe 1/2 point spreads should be used.

I believe there is an option for returning cash that we can use.

Thanks. That is good to know. :D

I got a link that will help y'all out with the spreads.

The spreads are so different depending on where you look. They are the same at some places, while being different at others.

This link will help you all look at all the major spreads together. And compare them and go with the most popular spread if you so desire.

It compares the spreads offered at the Stardust, Ceasers Hilton, the Stations Hotels, MGM and Mirage, the Palms, the Rio, Harrah's and others including offshore sites like Bodog and Sportsbook.Com

You can look at all the spreads for all these places together on 1 page.

I used to live in Vegas and I was a regular customer in the sports books if ya can't already tell. :p

There is a huge flaw in the system........You guys cant do odds and spreads together .. it's either one or the other (i.e. they have to be separate bets)...otherwise, u'll come out on top by betting on the underdog everytime.

Not really. The dog can realistically lose everytime and you will fall short. But not likely. :D

Finally, Ive been wondering where someone else who noticed this was. The betting table is being misread, the spread is for straight bets, they normally pay out 10/11 in vegas whichever team covers. The moneyline, or odds are for picking a winner with no spread. You are double-handicapping the favorite. The underdog has covered the spread in 42% of the games this year, which is unusually low, normally it is right around 50/50, but which also means that always picking the underdog will make you win since you are getting a 2/1 payout minimum. Don't you guys notice how heavily people bet the underdogs?
