Montgomery plays an undersized right defensive end at LSU, but I believe he'll ultimately end up at linebacker as a pro. He's got a great first step off the line of scrimmage and does a decent job of holding up against bigger tackles, but at 248 pound, he can get pushed around in the running game and just doesn't have the bulk to anchor against the bigger stronger tackles he'll be facing at the NFL level. As a pass rusher, he's quick off the line, but I don't see the closing burst necessary to be an elite pass rusher. He does have an array of moves though (not just a speed rusher) and is well coached technically. Overall, I see a mid to late first round pick at linebacker here.
