He's a playmaker at CB. He's pretty consistent, but does have his plays where he gets burned whereas former Gator Joe Haden would very rarely be burned. He's physical and did well against 3 of the top WR's in the nation: AJ Green, Julio Jones and Alshon Jeffrey.

Looks like he changed his mind. http://twitter.com/jenkz1/status/24219086187667457

And the Gators can definitely use him. In my roughly 18 years of following the Gators seriously, he is the best cornerback I have ever seen in Gainesville.

I'm waiting for something slightly more official than a Tweet, but assuming it's true, that really helps Brandon Harris move up the boards.

I still think Haden's better since he was more physical and was NEVER out of position, but I do think they are neck and neck. Jenkins probably has better ball skills though, but he has had his occasions where he was out of position. Haden is also a better blitzer and better against the run. Not that saying he's neck and neck with the #7 overall pick is a diss or anything. If this is true then the Gators should be back in the top 5 in defense this year. We lose a lot of experience on the defensive line, but the guys we have taking over full time actually performed better on the field in a more limited duty. DB was my main concern, but getting an elite corner back like Jenkins shores up the secondary big time. Apparently he sent in his paperwork to the NFL and they told him he'd be a 2nd or 3rd rounder based on his 40 times. If true I have no idea what Janoris Jenkins they were watching. It definitely wasn't the one that played great against Julio Jones, AJ Green, and Alshon Jeffrey. Guy is a stud.

The secondary loses Black and likely Will Hill, so they will be young.
