- Round 1
-
1. Kansas City Chiefs - Geno Smith, QB, West VirginiaAndy Reid comes into town and he needs a quarterback. He started with the Eagles with Donovan McNabb. The Chiefs have a great situation there if they can just find the quarterback to run it. Smith has a ton of talent and just needs to keep developing it. -
2. Jacksonville Jaguars - Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida StateThe question for the Jaguars is which spot on the defensive line to address first, because they need both end and tackle. The Jags go with Werner and hope he can be the franchise rusher they have been looking for basically since the team has existed, hoping that Andre Branch can develop into the right end they envisioned when he was drafted last year. -
3. Oakland Raiders - Star Lotulelei, DT, UtahOakland has one pick until the third round and they have got to make it count. With needs all over the board, they need a franchise player. Lotuleilei could be the next coming of Haloti Ngata and be the center piece of Dennis Allen's defense going into the future. -
4. Philadelphia Eagles - Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&MThe status of Jason Peters is unclear at this point, but it would not be surprising if the Eagles decide to go in another direction at left tackle and try to fix a mediocre offensive line ravaged by major injuries. Depending on who you ask, Joeckel might be on the same level as Jake Long or perhaps even Joe Thomas. -
5. Detroit Lions - Damontre Moore, DE, Texas A&MKyle Vanden Bosch is now gone and even if they keep Avril, he is their left end. Moore gives them a potential franchise end that could give the Lions a dominant defensive line, especially going after the passer. -
6. Cleveland Browns - Barkevious Mingo, DE, LSUThe Browns have switched to a 3-4 base, hybrid defense. Mingo's incredible upside in addition to his ability to contribute both at linebacker and end make him too good to pass up for a team desperate to find a franchise pass rusher. -
7. Arizona Cardinals - Eric Fisher, OT, Central MichiganThe Cardinals approach to their offensive line the past several years has been downright negligent. Eric Fisher's talent trumps any of the quarterbacks and they will not be able to find a tackle with his talent later. Their new life under Bruce Arians starts there. -
8. Buffalo Bills - Arthur Brown, ILB, Kansas StateAs much of a question mark the quarterback position is, linebacker is a void for the Bills. They have a talented defensive line with no one to make plays behind it. Arthur Brown is an incredibly talented linebacker who should flourish as a sideline to sideline defender behind Marcel Dareus and Kyle Williams. He should be a favorite for the Defensive Rookie of the Year. -
9. New York Jets - Jarvis Jones, OLB, GeorgiaQuarterback is a mess, but it is Rex Ryan's team for the moment and the best thing he can do is do what he does best; defense. He has put together impressive defenses without a franchise pass rusher. Jones gives them that element in addition to an underrated run defender. -
10. Tennessee Titans - Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouriennessee opts to rebuild the interior of their defensive line with the most talented 3-tech in the entire draft. Richardson is reminiscent of Gerald McCoy and he could really open things up for their pass rushers on the outside. -
11. San Diego Chargers - Chance Warmack, OG, AlabamaSo much criticism has been lobbed at Philip Rivers, but the offense around him has disintegrated the last few years. Get back to basics and build up an offensive line. Chance Warmack is good enough to warrant a Top 10 pick and could be the next coming of Larry Allen. -
12. Miami Dolphins - Keenan Allen, WR, CaliforniaThe Dolphins have got to give Ryan Tannehill the weapons to succeed. Keenan Allen has gone under appreciated due to the fact he was saddled with a terrible quarterback situation at Cal, but is definitely a #1 wide receiver prospect. If they keep Brian Hartline, they go from a position of weakness to a quality duo for Tannehill to throw the ball. -
13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Dee Milliner, CB, AlabamaAfter trading Aqib Talib during the season, it was clear the Bucs were going be looking for a cornerback. They have also released Eric Wright and while Ronde Barber seems to be trying to play forever, he's gotta stop at some point (right?). Milliner is not quite a finished product, but he has the potential to be a great corner at the next level. -
14. Carolina Panthers - Sharrif Floyd, DT, FloridaThe Panthers have a talented set of ends but their defensive tackle position is a disgrace. Floyd gives them a 3-technique with the potential to be a cornerstone on their team, upgrade their pass rush and help protect their reigning defensive rookie of the year, Luke Kuechly. -
15. New Orleans Saints - Dion Jordan, DE, OregonThe Saints have decided to go to a 3-4 and hired Rob Ryan to run it. It remains to be seen how many of their current players will transition, but it is clear they need a pass rusher. Jordan has incredible potential, but needs substantial development. -
16. St. Louis Rams - Lane Johnson, OT, OklahomaJohnson is a ridiculous athlete; that much is obvious. He also seems to have embraced the left tackle position and has been impressive there. The Rams have got to find a way to protect Sam Bradford and did nothing last year to improve the situation. Hopefully, the Rams take the steps necessary to make his life easier. -
17. Pittsburgh Steelers - Johnathan Hankins, DT, Ohio StateCasey Hampton has been a career Steeler and has had a tremendous career there, but he is wearing down and there is no heir apparent to that spot. The Steelers not only need a nose tackle, but they have had an obvious connection to the Ohio State program the last several years, taking Santonio Holmes, Thad Lewis, Cameron Heyward, etc. Hankins is the next to go from Columbus to Pittsburgh. -
18. Dallas Cowboys - Kenny Vaccaro, S, TexasThe most pressing need for the Cowboys is finding a 3-technique defensive tackle, but their safety position has been atrocious. They have a great set of corners in the making; they need a safety to protect them over the top. Vaccaro has the talent to be that guy. -
19. New York Giants - Kevin Minter, ILB, LSUThe last several years, people have been giving the Giants a middle linebacker and they have resisted. This year, they could do the same thing, but Kevin Minter is a tremendous player that seems to fit the mold the Giants like. -
20. Chicago Bears - Jonathan Cooper, OG, North CarolinaAnother year and it is the Bears pick, so of course it is an offensive lineman. Maybe they will pull the trigger. Cooper has tremendous talent with the ability to pull as well as play any of the interior line positions. Cutler needs more time and Forte could use more holes. -
21. Cincinnati Bengals - Alec Ogletree, OLB, GeorgiaThe Bengals could go with their linebackers. They could move Vontaze Burfict into the Mike spot and draft a weak side linebacker. Or, they could keep Burfict as the WILL and draft a MLB. They go with the option of moving Burfict in the middle and adding a tremendously athletic WILL. Ogletree has some off the field problems but an immense amount of talent and he fits the type of player that both Marvin Lewis and Mike Zimmer love to get their hands on and get the most out of -
22. St. Louis Rams - DeAndre Hopkins, WR, ClemsonThe Rams continue to work to improve their offense and Sam Bradford's chances of success by giving him a #1 type wide receiver. Hopkins is incredibly talented with tremendous feet and the ability to separate and run after the catch, which fits Bradford, the Rams offense, and the dome perfectly. If Brian Quick can become the player they hope, Chris Givens can keep making plays, and Amendola comes back or even if he does not, the Rams have a nice receiving core. -
23. Minnesota Vikings - Kawann Short, DT, PurdueSince the retirement of Pat Williams, the Vikings have not had the same kind of impact at the nose guard position. Kawann Short is a tremendous talent who is a prototypical nose guard who can get after the quarterback. With the rest of their defensive line so talented, Short can help get them back to what they used to be on that side of the ball. -
24. Indianapolis Colts - Datone Jones, DE, UCLAMany will want to put Ansah or scoff at the fact he has not gone earlier. Grigson has opted to pick football players over athletes. Datone Jones is a great player now and can instantly upgrade the Colts defense and give them someone who can help his teammates make plays as well as get them for himself. Jones is being criminally underrated at this point because he is not flashy. He was one of the best players at the Senior Bowl. Because of the deal for Vontae Davis, the Colts could be looking to move down to get a few more picks and if a team is looking to move up for one of the quarterbacks, could be a deal made. -
25. Seattle Seahawks - Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, TennesseeCordarrelle Patterson is an unbelievable athletic prospect who is dynamic with the ball in his hands, but he is almost at square one in terms of his development and technique as a receiver. This is the type of player Pete Carroll and the Seahawks love to take. They do not need him to be immediate impact guy and can focus on developing so he can be the player they are drafting him to be; Russell Wilson's #1 receiver. -
26. Green Bay Packers - Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre DameIt is still unclear what will happen with Jermichael Finley, but it is never a bad idea to give Aaron Rogers more weapons and they have so many wide receivers, getting another one is tough to fit on the roster. They have not had a dynamic tight end option in a few years and Eifert can give them that option, espeically in the red zone. -
27. Houston Texans - Eric Reid, S, LSUThe back end of the Houston Texans defense has been where they have had issues. Their corners are solid, but they need someone to step up and make plays at safety. Eric Reid can be a big time playmaker and intimidator for them as a free safety -
28. Denver Broncos - Jesse Williams, DT, AlabamaThe Broncos have several dynamic defensive players in their front seven, but they do not have much in terms of a true nose. Jesse Williams is a fantastic player that forces teams to double him allowing his teammates to make more plays and anything that gives the rest of that front seven more opportunities to make plays is a good investment -
29. New England Patriots - Robert Alford, CB, Southeastern LouisianaWhat is preventing Robert Alford from going in the 1st round? He is so similar to Janoris Jenkins who dropped due to character concerns Alford does not appear to have. Jenkins was a top 10 talent without those. Alford may not have faced the competition Jenkins did, but he has the talent to at least go in the first round and the Patriots need someone across from Talib, especially if McCourty stays at safety. -
30. Atlanta Falcons - Ezekiel Ansah, DE, BYUI am fully prepared to be wrong, but I do not see the top 10 pick others do on Ansah's tape nor do I see the franchise pass rusher. His potential is unreal, but he still projects better to a power end or 5-tech. The Falcons could definitely use a power end and have a young enough team to take their time with Ansah. -
31. San Francisco 49ers - Johnthan Banks, CB, Mississippi StateThe 49ers have few real holes, but they could definitely use help in their secondary. Their corners were not great for them and had break downs, especially in the playoffs. Banks is a talented, physical corner that fits the mold of a Jim Harbaugh type player. -
32. Baltimore Ravens - Manti Te'o, ILB, Notre DameWhen it comes right down to it, Manti Te'o is a fantastic 3-4 ILB prospect and that is exactly what the Ravens need. They also seem to have this innate culture of taking guys in like Te'o, making them their own, and getting the best out of them. - Round 2
-
33. Jacksonville Jaguars - Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida StateThere are a wide range of opinions on Xavier Rhodes. There were times when he looked like he would go in the top 15. He is a physical player that can play press, which is exactly what Gus Bradley wants him to do in his scheme. -
34. Kansas City Chiefs - Desmond Trufant, CB, WashingtonThe Chiefs have a tremendously talented front seven, but could look to add more talent in their secondary. Brandon Flowers and Eric Berry are two very talented players, but they may want more help back there. Trufant could be a great addition to that group. -
35. Philadelphia Eagles - Matt Barkley, QB, Southern CaliforniaChip Kelly seems to be unsure of what he wants to do at quarterback or at least that is the appearance. Michael Vick? Nick Foles? Maybe it's neither. Kelly knows Barkley and Barkley has a ton of talent and could work well in Kelly's offense. -
36. Detroit Lions - Jordan Poyer, CB, Oregon StateThe Lions have had issues at the corner position for a couple years and have not really found a group they are happy with. Poyer is a tremendous competitor and great in coverage with the potential to get better. -
37. Cincinnati Bengals - Johnathan Cyprien, S, Florida InternationalAnother area the Bengals are looking to improve is their free safety spot. They have a bunch of average players with no one who has really taken grasp of the position. Cyprien is a fantastic combination of power and speed with a fantastic attitude for football. Between he and Ogletree, the Bengals defense could be just about complete. -
38. Arizona Cardinals - Mike Glennon, QB, North Carolina StateAfter getting their left tackle, the Cardinals look to start fresh at quarterback. Arians has worked with Manning, Roethlisberger, and Luck. Perhaps he is the right guy to correct Glennon's inconsistencies and take full advantage of his his incredible arm. -
39. New York Jets - Eddie Lacy, RB, AlabamaAgain, the Jets could and maybe should opt for a quarterback, but their running back position has arguably been even worse. Rex Ryan would love to control the football. The Jets OLine is pretty good and they just need the right guy to give the ball. Lacy could definitely be that guy for them with his strength and power. -
40. Tennessee Titans - Barrett Jones, C, AlabamaBarrett Jones is not flashy; he is just a smart, tenacious lineman who knows how to play the game and do it through injury. That seems like it would a huge selling point for Titans head coach and Hall of Fame offensive lineman Mike Munchak and fixing the interior of that line. -
41. Buffalo Bills - Ryan Nassib, QB, SyracuseNot the most creative pick, I know, but it is far more reasonable in the second round than in the top 10. Nassib has a great skill set and was coached up well by Doug Marrone. If he can complete his development, could end up being a Drew Brees type quarterback. -
42. Miami Dolphins - D.J. Fluker, OT, AlabamaIt is unclear if the Dolphins will want to bring back Jake Long or let him go. Either way, Jonathan Martin is not a right tackle. He is their left tackle or a swing tackle. D.J. Fluker is a monster of a right tackle and will be a bulldozer in the running game. -
43. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Zach Ertz, TE, StanfordThe Bucs have taken a few shots at addressing the tight end position, but nothing has really stuck. They have some talent at receiver, but a tight end is a quarterback's best friend and Ertz can block, which is a big selling point for Greg Schiano, but he can also give them a threat in the middle and in the red zone. -
44. Carolina Panthers - Justin Hunter, WR, TennesseeIn terms of physical tools, Hunter has it all. Big time Height, weight, speed prospect. He needs to take the next step and become the true #1 threat he can be and what Cam Newton needs. Steve Smith is still there, but beyond that, they have some average receivers and some tight ends. -
45. San Diego Chargers - Giovani Bernard, RB, North CarolinaThe Chargers have lost LaDainian Tomlinson, Michael Turner, and Darren Sproles over the last several years. And Ryan Mathews cannot stay healthy. The Chargers look to give Rivers a reliable running back who can contribute out of the back field and perhaps reducing the workload of Mathews will keep him healthier longer and give them a nice pair of backs. -
46. St. Louis Rams - Khaseem Greene, OLB, RutgersEvery year it seems like a tremendous weakside linebacker falls for no good reason whatsoever. Last year it was Lavonte David; this year it is Khaseem Greene. The Rams have the makings of a tremendous defensive line but could improve at linebacker. Green and Laurinatis could make a ton of plays for the Rams in coming years. -
47. Dallas Cowboys - Bennie Logan, DT, LSUWith the move to the 4-3, the Cowboys need a 3-technique to run Kiffin's system. Many believed that Logan had the potential to be a 1st round pick had he stayed and the Cowboys are betting on that potential a year early and hoping to get a value. -
48. Pittsburgh Steelers - Stepfan Taylor, RB, StanfordThe Steelers running back position was a disaster last year between injuries and outright ineffective play. Taylor has been underrated through much of this process, but finally started getting some recognition with a good week at the Senior Bowl. He has the ability to be a work horse back as well as contribute as a blocker and receiver for Roethlisberger. -
49. New York Giants - Sam Montgomery, DE, LSUMontgomery's loss is the Giants gain. Montgomery has 1st round, even high 1st round talent, but fell off this year. The question that needs to be answered is why. In any case, the Giants need to rebuild their once impressive defensive line depth, especially on the ends and try to find a guy who can play across from JPP. -
50. Chicago Bears - Travis Kelce, TE, CincinnatiWhen the Bears had Mike Martz as their offensive coordinator, they got rid of Greg Olsen and abandoned the tight end position for a few years. Now, with Marc Trestman as their head coach, they may want to bring the position back and give Cutler a weapon in the middle of the field. -
51. Washington Redskins - David Amerson, CB, North Carolina StateThe Redskins secondary was a big issue last year and they need help at both corner and safety. Amerson has first round talent, but struggled this year. He will likely get a shot at corner, but has the talent to be a great free safety as well. -
52. Minnesota Vikings - Robert Woods, WR, Southern CaliforniaWoods went from overrated at the start of this year to underrated now. Impressive feet and route running enables Woods to find openings to be a reliable target for Ponder. A combination of Ponder and Harvin (if he comes back) could be a big improvement for the Vikings. -
53. Cincinnati Bengals - Andre Ellington, RB, ClemsonThe Bengals have a strong offensive line, but they did not get as much as they should have from their running game. BJGE is an average running back and they may want to continue using him, but they could use a dynamic threat with him to take pressure off of Dalton. Ellington can be a home run hitter as a runner and receiver. -
54. Miami Dolphins - Gavin Escobar, TE, San Diego StateContinuing with improving Tannehill's weaponry, the Dolphins add a talented receiving tight end in Escobar. He's an impressive fluid player for his size and may remind some of Tony Gonzalez, but like Gonzalez coming out of Cal, Escobar is ineffective blocking and needs to improve. -
55. Green Bay Packers - Alex Okafor, DE, TexasThe Packers look to revamp their defense, especially the front seven by adding another athletic outside linebacker. Okafor's size and speed is impressive and could open up more opportunities for Clay Matthews. -
56. Seattle Seahawks - Cornellius Carradine, DE, Florida StateTank Carradine is an exceptionally talented defensive end who tore his ACL at the end of the year. Carradine becomes a wild card as to when and who will take him, but the Seahawks have the young roster and flexibility to take their time to wait for him to be 100% and bolster their defensive line. -
57. Houston Texans - Da'Rick Rogers, WR, Tennessee TechEvery year it seems like the Texans are trying to figure out a complement for Andre Johnson. Unfortunately, Johnson is getting older and time is running short. DeVier Posey flashed, but then tore his achilles in the playoffs making him doubtful for at least the next season. Da'Rick Rogers is a great talent who falls due to character concerns. -
58. Denver Broncos - Tony Jefferson, S, OklahomaThe Broncos have some issues in their secondary to address. They need help at both corner and safety. Jefferson is a talented prospect who can play the strong safety spot with some free safety skills. Could be a good fit for the Broncos. -
59. New England Patriots - Tavon Austin, WR, West VirginiaThe Patriots have questions to answer at receiver, specifically with Wes Welker. Even if they keep Welker, they need more help. Austin is an incredibly explosive player in the mold of Randall Cobb. -
60. Atlanta Falcons - Larry Warford, OG, KentuckyThe Atlanta Falcons have some talent along the offensive line but Todd McClure is old at center and they drafted Peter Konz, who played right guard this year, was drafted to replace him, leaving an opening at right guard. Warford gives them a mauler in the running game who is pretty athletic in space. -
61. San Francisco 49ers - Sylvester Williams, DT, North CarolinaThe 49ers look to improve their defensive line rotation by adding an athletic defensive lineman in Sylvester Williams who can rotate in at end at least and possibly start from the get go. He also has potential to contribute as a pass rusher. -
62. Baltimore Ravens - Quinton Patton, WR, Louisiana TechAnquan Boldin was tremendous in the playoffs, but not as impressive in the regular season. Torrey Smith is a good receiver, but after those two, it is a little iffy. Quinton Patton is the most polished receiver in the draft and while his athletic tools are not ideal, he is just a great player as he showed in Mobile. - Round 3
-
63. Kansas City Chiefs - Stedman Bailey, WR, West VirginiaThe Chiefs have some young players at receiver trying to find their way, but if they lose Bowe or even if they do not, they could use more weapons and some familiarity for Geno Smith wouldn't be a bad thing. Stedman Bailey is a great value in the third round as he could go much earlier. -
64. Jacksonville Jaguars - T.J. McDonald, S, Southern CaliforniaT.J. McDonald is an incredible athlete though many are dinging him for basically being the same level of player the last three years, which was All Conference. He has the ability to contribute at either safety spot, but could be a great fit in the role Kam Chancellor was playing in Seattle. -
65. Detroit Lions - Brian Winters, OG, Kent StateThe Lions offensive line has been miserable in terms of run blocking. They opted to get rid of Stephen Peterman and should look to improve the unit. Winters was a left tackle for Kent State and could possibly play at either guard spot between his feet and his nasty demeanor on the field. Maybe, just maybe the Lions can start opening up some holes in the running game. -
66. Oakland Raiders - Margus Hunt, DE, Southern MethodistMargus Hunt is a freakish athlete, but his lack of technique causes him to be largely ineffective against decent competition. If the Raiders can get him to correct this problem and play with better leverage he has the potential to be a huge steal to play left end for them and bolster their pass rush. -
67. Philadelphia Eagles - Terrance Williams, WR, BaylorSo much has been made of a potential revitalization of DeSean Jackson in Philly and maybe that will happen. However, Jackson is one of the most overrated receivers in the league and while Maclin is solid, they could use more help. Terrance Williams needs to improve his technique and get rid of some habits, but he is a great athlete that would fit nicely in that offense. -
68. Cleveland Browns - Phillip Thomas, S, Fresno StateThe Browns got almost nothing out of the free safety position the past few years and while T.J. Ward can be a good player, the lack of a free safety forces him to play in a role that does not always maximize his ability. Thomas is similar to Ward in terms of his mentality and tenacity but has the ability to contribute as a free safety. -
69. Arizona Cardinals - Kyle Long, OT, OregonWhile Kyle Long is still raw because he has not played a ton of football, he is an impressive athlete and has obvious genetic benefits as the son of Howie Long and brother of Chris Long. The Cardinals continue to build an offensive line in hopes of protecting Mike Glennon -
70. Tennessee Titans - Alvin Bailey, OG, ArkansasThe Titans had so many different combinations of linemen playing last year due to injuries and ineffectiveness along the interior, it really killed their season. Along with adding Barrett Jones, the Titans add another talented SEC linemen in Bailey to give them a potential replacement or at least quality depth. -
71. Buffalo Bills - Zaviar Gooden, OLB, MissouriThe Bills continue to address their weakness at linebacker and get a linebacker in Gooden who at least appears able to contribute in coverage as a weak side linebacker. He has impressive athleticism, but his intensity is hit or miss. -
72. New York Jets - Tyler Wilson, QB, ArkansasThe Jets opted to address needs elsewhere and have found themselves with a quarterback falling into their laps. With Mark Sanchez and Greg McElroy as the other quarterbacks on the roster, it is possible Wilson could end up starting as a rookie. -
73. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Joseph Randle, RB, Oklahoma StateDoug Martin was great as a rookie and really was a huge factor in the Bucs offense. The problem is he did just about all the work. The rest of their running backs did not do much. Schiano was a fan of using multiple running backs at Rutgers and will probably want to do the same in the NFL. Randle is a more dynamic athlete than Martin and can be a great change up for them. -
74. San Francisco 49ers - Matt Elam, S, FloridaThe 49ers continue to address their secondary by adding a falling talent in Matt Elam. Elam could play either spot as depth or he could end up starting at one of their spots. Talented player and a great athlete. -
75. New Orleans Saints - Brandon Williams, DT, Missouri Southern StateAgain, with the move to the 3-4, it is still unclear how the chips are going to fall. The answer to who will be their nose tackle is still unanswered. Williams is an incredibly strong defensive tackle who definitely looked like he belonged at the Senior Bowl and might be able to come in and start immediately. -
76. San Diego Chargers - Terron Armstead, OT, Arkansas-Pine BluffThe Chargers have struggled at left tackle since they lost Marcus McNeil to injuries with his back. Armstead was a revelation at both the East-West Shrine Game and Senior Bowl and has a ton of potential to be a good left tackle in the league, but may not be ready to start right away. -
77. Miami Dolphins - Marcus Lattimore, RB, South CarolinaThis will be one of the major stories of the draft. How early will Lattimore go and where? Lattimore aims to be ready to play this coming season. An NFL team may be wise to hold him out a year just to be sure. The Dolphins have a ton of draft picks this year and as a result are in great position to use one of them on Lattimore before other teams will pull the trigger. Lattimore is the most talented running back in the draft, but has had issues with his knees obviously. If he can get healthy, he is a major steal and would be a huge complement to Lamar Miller. -
78. St. Louis Rams - Chris Faulk, OT, LSUThe Rams continue to bolster their offensive line by adding a player who barely played this past year. Faulk was LSU's left tackle before he went down due to injury and missed the majority of the season before opting to declare. Faulk could contribute at right tackle or guard if he is healthy and could be a contributor along their offensive line. -
79. Pittsburgh Steelers - Sio Moore, OLB, ConnecticutWith the end of the James Harrison era on the horizon, the Steelers may want to add another pass rusher. They tend to keep drafting pass rushers no matter who they have anyway and Sio Moore who fits the profile of the edge rushers they like. Short and athletic. -
80. Dallas Cowboys - Khaled Holmes, C, Southern CaliforniaThe Cowboys interior offensive line was a disaster this past year. They have some young talent in Tyron Smith and will want to keep adding players in that vein. Holmes played in the same offensive system as Smith at USC and fits the type of player they have been drafting. -
81. New York Giants - Dallas Thomas, OG, TennesseeThe Giants' offensive line, like their defensive line, is starting to age out. They have tried to draft replacements and had marginal success. Dallas Thomas has played both sides at tackle and could contribute at guard, so at the least, he should be a valuable back up but could easily end up starting as well. -
82. Miami Dolphins - Gerald Hodges, OLB, Penn StateKarlos Dansby is a great middle linebacker, but their outside linebacker position is not terribly good at this point with a guy like Jason Trusnik getting a lot of playing time. Hodges was a talented player and contributor for Penn State and may be able to contribute early due to need. -
83. Minnesota Vikings - Logan Ryan, CB, RutgersThe Vikings have a lot of maybe's and if's at cornerback. Logan Ryan is a talented player that may not need to start right away, but could if pressed into service. -
84. Cincinnati Bengals - Travis Frederick, C, WisconsinThe Bengals have a lot of talent on the offensive line, but they have a leak at center. They really need to find a long term solution there. Hard to go wrong with Wisconsin offensive linemen and has the size this Bengals team loves. -
85. Washington Redskins - Blidi Wreh-Wilson, CB, ConnecticutContinuing to build their secondary, the Redskins added what could be a corner but like a safety in Amerson. Now they add a talented press corner with good size and a big wing span. He also projects as someone who is willing to play hard against the run, but needs to be more consistent. -
86. Indianapolis Colts - Brandon Jenkins, DE, Florida StateThe Colts have had Mathis and Freeney so long, but time is growing short for them and they are looking for the guys to take over for them. At one point, Jenkins was a potential first round pick before a foot injury ended his season. Now, he will be the Seminole defensive end to go in this draft, but still provides value and should make a good transition to outside linebacker. -
87. Seattle Seahawks - Jordan Reed, TE, FloridaThe Seahawks added Zach Miller in the offseason and Anthony McCoy made his fair share of plays, but they do not have a dynamic threat at the position. Jordan Reed is a pure joker tight end that gives Russell Wilson another weapon. -
88. Green Bay Packers - Willliam Gholston, DE, Michigan StateJerel Worthy may miss the whole season after he had significant injury and the Packers defensive ends have not been great. Gholston is an incredible physical specimen with size and quickness, but very inconsistent. Could be a steal here betting on big time potential. -
89. Houston Texans - Tyler Bray, QB, TennesseeMatt Schaub keeps proving that he is a middle of the road starter. The Texans may opt to try to develop a quarterback with more upside like Tyler Bray. He has a huge arm and prototypical size, but has mechanical issues and is very inconsistent. -
90. Denver Broncos - Montee Ball, RB, WisconsinThe Broncos got far more production out of Willis McGahee than anyone could have imagined, but he has gone about as far as he can. The Broncos are drafting for right now, so Montee Ball's talent will outweigh the mileage on his tires. They want to win right now with Peyton Manning and Ball could step right in and contribute. -
91. New England Patriots - Akeem Spence, DT, IllinoisThe Patriots can always use more depth along the defensive line and might want a little more in terms of a pass rush from that position. Spence is an impressive athlete but not a finished product and should at least be a good rotational option and pass rush specialist for the Patriots. -
92. Atlanta Falcons - Dion Sims, TE, Michigan StateThe question remains if the Falcons will be able to convince Tony Gonzalez to continue his Hall of Fame career for another run at the Super Bowl. Even if they do, they could use another tight end. Dion Sims is a huge target and has talent, but needs to improve his blocking. He could be a valuable weapon for Matt Ryan early, but he could also be the long term solution for the position after Gonzalez calls it a career; needs to commit to blocking. -
93. San Francisco 49ers - Aaron Dobson, WR, MarshallThe 49ers receiver position has some questions. After Crabtree, they have the rotting husk of Randy Moss. They drafted A.J. Jenkins in the first round and he has not done anything yet. They also have Mario Manningham. They may want a solid receiver who can come in and just move the sticks. Aaron Dobson can be that guy. -
94. Baltimore Ravens - Menelik Watson, OT, Florida StateThe Ravens have managed to shuffle their offensive line to get a ton of production out of it. The problem is that while McKinnie did the job for them and they won the Super Bowl, it is impossible to expect much more. If they can get another year out of him while they develop Watson, who has a ton of potential but needs time and experience, they could successfully make the transition to another long run of effective offensive line play.

If Dion Jordan gets selected in the first round he will be a bust.
If Floyd can make it to 18, I think that is a slam dunk for the Cowboys. The problem is if he goes earlier like he did in this projection, there is not another one until the second round. Do they then opt to take a defensive end? Perhaps someone like Ansah to play opposite of Ware? Certainly possible.
As for Dion Jordan, I think is a huge boom or bust type pick and if he is rushed, he will have a lot of problems. I would not want him, but someone will likely take him far earlier than he should go betting on the potential and upside.
Having said all of that, Datone even if he does a good job for the Colts in his career will not solve the need for a game changing pass rusher, or a ball hawking DB.....
Ultimately I would love to see something you can't mock (at least not with any accuracy above picking the winning lotto numbers) and that would be to trade down to round 2 and acquire more picks.
So for me, best scenario is to trade down and fill more holes with capable starters.......the second best is to stay put and get a DE because there are fewer opportunities to find one later in the draft or free agency.......
