With the draft now less than two weeks away, ESPN's draft guru Mel Kiper undertook what was described as a marathon conference call discussing all matters related to the NFL Draft. Among the most interesting of tidbits that came about this call for Browns fans was Mel Kiper's idea that the Browns may have legitimate interest in quarterback Geno Smith. ESPN colleague Todd McShay went as far as predicting that the Browns will select the quarterback out of West Virginia. ...

Rutgers has some impressive prospects on the defensive side of the ball, but the offense’s engine, Jawan Jamison, is an impressive player in his own right. As Jamison went, Rutgers’ offense followed this past season. When he had 90+ yards rushing, Rutgers was 7-0. Under 90 yards on the ground, they were 2-4. Some may be a little surprised he opted to declare, but given his size and strength now, he was not likely to get much better staying another year at Rutgers or improve his stock and there are only so many ...

Defensive End Wes Horton experienced USC with Pete Carroll at the height of his powers to being ineligible and having to bounce back from NCAA sanctions he had no role in acquiring. He's kept a positive attitude through all of it and looks to find more success in the postseason in the NFL. He discusses his time at USC, his athletic family, his development, and what he offers teams in the NFL.

Peter Smith: How did you end up choosing USC?

Wes Horton: I went to SC probably most importantly because it was close to home. I definitely wanted to be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour away from my fam, because my family is most important to me. Just going down and seeing Coach Carroll and the Trojan family and seeing what they were all about; seeing their philosophy on ball and why they’re having so many years of great success with competition and the great players that came through SC. That time period, I bought into how and why they were having a lot of success, so it was a no-brainer for me.

PS: Did you grow up an SC fan?

    WH: No, ...

After being a great high school player in Califonia and a fantastic player at Oklahoma, free safety Tony Jefferson finds himself under a lot of scrutiny and there is definitely a sense of the anger there. The type of underlying anger that fuels him in his training and how he approaches his NFL; it focuses him on what he is doing. He has a lot of confidence and believes he will be proving a lot of doubters wrong.
Peter Smith: You grew up in Chula Vista, CA and were a heavily recruited high school prospect, so how did you end up at Oklahoma?

Tony Jefferson: I was committed to USC and Pete Carroll had to take off the to the NFL, so I just wanted to go to a stable coaching program and where a place wins and that was Oklahoma.

PS: You played another position in high school.

TJ: Yea, I played running back.

PS: If I’m not mistaken, you think you might actually be a better running back than you are a safety.

TJ: Sometimes, I feel that way.
