Welcome to the week 4 edition of the PSH NFL Power Rankings!

Mallard, jjflr, and r5d3 join us each week as regular members of the power ranking team.  They will be joined by a different guest ranker each week, who will give his or her input into how the PSH rankings will look for that week.

This week’s ‘guest ranker’?  The ‘always-good-for-a-laugh’ Whit Prowdy ………. er, RUPackers ……………. er, oh well, you all know who he is …………..

Whit Prowdy is a two and a half year member of PSH, and is the self-proclaimed ‘hands down most entertaining’.  He’s a fan of the Green Bay Packers, and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.  It comes as no surprise then, that he goes to Rutgers, and is currently a senior studying meterology.  When he’s not putting his hand out the window or staring at clouds, he enjoys golf, flag football, rye toast, being the broker of the year, and making sure that Wolverine’s hatred for him never dies.

Are you interested in joining the PSH ranking team for a guest spot?  Go to the ‘Announcements’ area and look for the thread to sign up.  Slots are still available.

As a reminder, jjflr and r5d3 use mathematical/statistical models for their rankings.  These formulas are not available to the public but may be available for the right price.  Mallard and, now, the weekly guest, will rank teams purely based on their subjective opinions and years of wisdom.  The 4 individual rankings are then compiled and averaged, giving you, the lucky reader, the official PSH Weekly Power Rankings!

The Biggest Movers This Week?

On the Upside …………… the Redskins and Jets both move up 8 spots with big wins and the Bucs move up 6 after upending the Pack.

On the Downside …………. The Cardinals drop double digits, tumbling 10 spots, the 49ers fall 8 slots, and the Broncos drop 7 after their embarrassing loss to the Chiefs.

  1. New York Giants (3-0) – Whit: “The champs were atop my mental power rankings, and remain so atop my physical power rankings.  They’re the team to beat in the NFL until further notice.”
  2. Tennessee Titans (4-0) – Mallard: “It’s surprising how smoothly the transition away from would-be franchise QB Vince Young went.”
  3. Dallas Cowboys (3-1) – Mallard: “The Redskins rained on their parade, but ultimately the upset will prove a mere speed bump.”
  4. Washington Redskins (3-1) – ruuuuudiii: “Underestimated by many.  Backed by one (me).  The Redskins are looking more ‘for real’ every week.”
  5. Buffalo Bills (4-0) – Mallard: “This team is waiting patiently to be exposed.”
  6. Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1) – jjflr: “Still a lot of questions surrounding this team.  They have to feel fortunate to have escaped Monday night with a win.”
  7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1) – Whit: “Earnest Graham, not Brian Griese, has this team on fire.  Imagine if they had an elite QB?”
  8. San Diego Chargers (2-2) – ruuuuudiii: “Starting to play a little more defense, though seeing them down 15-0 to Oakland was disturbing.”
  9.  Carolina Panthers (3-1) – Whit: “Jake Delhomme and Muhsin Muhammed have reinvented themselves this year .. and they’re doing it at the right time, in the right division.”
  10. Philadelphia Eagles (2-2) – ruuuuudiii: “Perhaps the most balanced team in the league. Despite losing to Chicago, the Eagles remain a top flight team.”
  11. Baltimore Ravens (2-1) – Whit: “Joe Flacco was a great story in Week 1.  It’s now Week 5, and he hasn’t done anything since to impress me.”
  12. Chicago Bears (2-2) – jjflr: “Good defense and a solid running game could take this team far.”
  13. New Orleans Saints (2-2) – ruuuuudiii: “Found a way to win despite missing Colston and Shockey.  This team is definitely a contender in the South.”
  14. Green Bay Packers (2-2) –ruuuuudiii: “As long as Rodgers is healthy, this team is still in the division hunt, but some of the novelty has worn off.”
  15. Denver Broncos (3-1) – jjflr: “The lack of a running game and poor defense finally caught up with them.  Cutler isn’t Superman.”
  16. New York Jets (2-2) – Whit: “A smoking-hot Brett Favre and an easy schedule ahead has all the makings for a solid record for the Jets.”
  17. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-2) – ruuuuudiii: “2 straight wins has them on the upswing.  Can they continue to overcome the injuries?”
  18. Minnesota Vikings (1-3) – Whit: “This whole team has been a disappointment.  Tarvaris Jackson is warming up the pine and Jared Allen hasn’t lived up to expectations yet.”
  19. Arizona Cardinals (2-2) – jjflr: “Whisenhunt’s attempt to avoid jet lag didn’t work out for the team.  They lost 2 straight on the east coast and can’t wait to get back west.”
  20. New England Patriots (2-1) – Whit: “They’ve shown exactly how human they are without Tom Brady.  Is their reign of terror over?”
  21. Miami Dolphins (1-2) – jjflr: “Let’s see if week 3’s performance was a fluke or a sign of things to come.”
  22. Atlanta Falcons (2-2) – ruuuuudiii: “Carolina and Tampa both made them look bad.  Falcons are only this high on strength of beating doormats Detroit and KC.”
  23. San Francisco 49ers (2-2) –jjflr: “JTO played his first bad game on Sunday.  The Niners better hope that he gets back into the groove or they’re in trouble.”
  24. Indianapolis Colts (1-2) – Mallard: “I hope they climb these rankings quickly.”
  25. Seattle Seahawks (1-2) – Whit: “A needed week off and a few returning WR’s should spell some better things for the Hawks.”
  26. Oakland Raiders (1-3) – ruuuuudiii: “This team is getting better every week.  Question is, will Al continue to let them get better?”
  27. Cleveland Browns (1-3) – Mallard: “Last time they looked this bad a change at QB sparked a turnaround.”
  28. Kansas City Chiefs (1-3) – Whit: “So THAT’S what winning feels like.”
  29. Houston Texans (0-3) – Whit: “Sage Rosenfels anyone?”
  30. Cincinnati Bengals (0-4) – Mallard: “Carson Palmer may never again regain his ‘elite’ status after this year.”
  31. Detroit Lions (0-3) – Mallard: “Who will be their scapegoat with Matt Millen gone?”
32.     St. Louis Rams (0-4) – Whit: “How can a team with so much talent on offense be so inept?”
