Welcome to week 5 of the PSH NFL Power Rankings!

Mallard, jjflr, and r5d3 remain as weekly members of the power ranking team.  Each week, they will be joined by a guest ranker, who will give his or her input into how the PSH rankings will look for that week.

The week 5 ‘guest ranker’?  Our friend from the north, eh …………….. SWAY29!!!  Oh, yeah, you betcha!

Sway is a firefighter living in Whitby, Ontario, which is about 15 minutes outside of Toronto.  His family is from Boston.  He loves hockey, baseball and, of course, football.  He has become a semi-pro poker player online and is looking to eventually win enough money to open up a restaurant.  The last couple of years, he has coached one of the top hockey teams in Ontario but he’s currently taking a break this year.

Are you interested in joining the PSH ranking team for a guest spot?  Go to the announcements forum and sign up in the appropriate thread.

As a reminder, jjflr and r5d3 use mathematical/statistical models for their rankings.  These formulas are not available to the public but may be available for the right price.  Mallard and the weekly guest, will rank teams purely based on their subjective opinions and years of wisdom.  The 4 individual rankings are then compiled and averaged, giving you, the lucky reader, the official PSH Weekly Power Rankings!

Without further ado, we give you the rankings above all rankings …………

  1. New York Giants (4-0) – Sway: They Won the Super Bowl, have not been beaten since, they are number one.
  2. Tennessee Titans (5-0) – Mallard: The rebuilding project is finished, no one in the AFC is playing better than the Titans. This team is winning a lot like the Ravens used to back when they were a playoff team. It is not too early to call them an actual Superbowl contender.
  3. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-1) – jjflr: They continue to find ways to win.  THAT is a good sign.
  4. Washington Redskins (4-1) – Sway: Last Week put them on the radar, this week sealed it.
  5. Dallas Cowboys (4-1) – jjflr:  The Boys haven’t looked very good the last couple of weeks.  Trouble in D-town?
  6. Carolina Panthers (4-1) – Mallard: They are vastly improved on offense and defense this year.
  7. Chicago Bears (3-2) – r5d3: Move up into the top ten, but I don't believe they'll last long here.
  8. Buffalo Bills (4-1) – Sway: A good friend said it best “J.P is like an ex girlfriend, you only remember the great times till you see them again, then you see why it’s over”
  9. Philadelphia Eagles (2-3) –  jjflr:  Yes, I think they’re better than their record indicates but I was the only ranking that had them outside of the top 10.  Huh?
  10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-2) – r5d3: The Bucs need to stop giving the ball away as often as they take it away. Until then, middle of the pack is where they belong.
  11. Baltimore Ravens (2-2) – r5d3: Defense has absolutely dominant numbers, but offense is no longer keeping up.
  12. Denver Broncos (4-1) – Sway: Their offense will play with anybody, can their defense play like that more often?
  13. Arizona Cardinals (3-2) – Mallard: They finally rise to the top of their division by holding fast while it collapses around them. Can fans really be happy with the decision to go with Warner who is clearly closer to retirement than the Cardinals are from really contending?
  14. New England Patriots (3-1) – jjflr:  This just in ………….. the Patriots aren’t giving up that easily ………..
  15. San Diego Chargers (2-3) – Mallard: This team is one loss away from some serious finger pointing. The fingers will point at Turner, Tomlinson, and AJ Smith.
  16. Atlanta Falcons (3-2) – r5d3: Can they continue the division trend of going from worst to first? Nah!
  17. Miami Dolphins (2-2) – Sway: They have played real well the last 2 games and could have been 3-1.
  18. Minnesota Vikings (2-3) – r5d3: They still haven't looked too great, in victory or in defeat, but they can still become the class of the division.
  19. New York Jets (2-2) – jjflr:  This will be a VERY interesting team to watch from week to week.  They have as much talent as anyone in the league.
  20. Indianapolis Colts (2-2) – Mallard: They are still hanging on by a thread.
  21. Green Bay Packers (2-3) – Sway: Rodgers is banged up and the defense isn’t there right now.
  22. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-3) – jjflr:  Wow.  This team is always hyped and always underachieves.  When will we learn?
  23. New Orleans Saints (2-3) – r5d3: Finding great ways to lose.
  24. San Francisco 49ers (2-3) – jjflr: Well, JTO didn’t exactly impress in week 5, making it 2 weeks in a row when his performances were not up to what we saw the first few weeks.
  25. Oakland Raiders (1-3) – Sway:  McFadden offers them a future. Kiffen is gone and that can sometimes spark teams to win
  26. Cleveland Browns (1-3) – Mallard: It didn't take long for the expectations to wear off of this team.
  27. Houston Texans (0-4) – jjflr:  I still can’t believe they lost that game.  It didn’t really happen, did it?
  28. Seattle Seahawks (1-3) – r5d3: Alright, they're probably not quite this bad, but yeah, they're pretty bad.
  29. Cincinnati Bengals (0-5) – Sway: They have looked much better as of late, they could still make it a season.
  30. Kansas City Chiefs (1-4) – r5d3: Quickly burrowing themselves back into the 30's.
  31. Detroit Lions (0-4) – Mallard: Kitna is the next to go, Marinelli won't be far behind him. The most interesting thing about this team right now is speculating where Roy Williams might end up by this time next year.
  32. St. Louis Rams (0-4) – jjflr:  All this team needed was a bye week.  They’re going to rattle off 12 straight wins now …………
