Over at Football beast, i started a small column about various happenings in football, baseball, hockey etc... But i think here, im going to turn it into a Minnesota Sports forum only, i'm gonna post my 2 old ones, and I will start making a new one in about a week: any questions just reply here, or PM me.

Fowler, A liar?

In a recent Star Tribune Article, Prospective Vikings Owner, Reggie Fowler in his biography overstated many of his achievements, including his NFL and CFL experience. He also talked about playing in the Little League World Series, which Williamsport has no record of him playing their. This doesn't seem like good news for Viking fans, but i doubt this will turn into a situation of George O'learyesque porportions

Outrageous Salaries

Anyone else upset with the recent salaries baseball is putting out? Marginal Pitchers making upwards of 6 million dollars a season. Derrick Lowe, a pitcher who relies on his defense heavily, signed a 9.5 Million dollar contract (per year) this offseason, Kris Benson Got 32.5 Million at least 10 million of that goes to maintanence on Anna Benson's Rack Smile But seriously now, These large market owners seem determined to re-gain complete control of the market, driving small market clubs out of business. Is it really fair when the Yankees Pitching staff makes more than some Teams pay their entire payroll? Baseball needs a cap, its becoming quite clear. The cap i would propose is a soft cap, giving exceptions for players who played 3 or more years in the teams minor leagues system, and teams can go over the cap w/o penalty to re-sign their own players.

Irresponsible Journalism

I am SICK of the talking heads at ESPN talking about their "sources" I remember near the Trading deadline of the baseball season, Gammons was "certain" the twins would have Kris Benson. This offseason, Mortenson creates a "Source" and out of thin air a 60-40 prediction on moss' status in Minnesota. Which is eventually recanted, when ESPN realizes we aint buying it. Just now, a "Source" says that GB's Favre is coming back, if they are going to make articles like this, they should not be stated as facts, they should be put in a "rumor" section...and not posed as regular News.
