Well, New location, New Article. This will now will be focused on Vikings football, and other Minnesota sports. I decided to narrow down the parameters because at The Beast, we had few members, and i wanted articles to appeal to everyone. Now that i'm at a larger board, i can be more specific in my topics. So without further adu, i shall begin my article.
Vikings Active In Free Agency:
The Vikings wasted little time in securing players at need positions. Monster Defensive Tackle Pat Williams, And CB Fred Smoot were the vikings first two targets. Pat Williams, will make the vikings defense much better, he will apply a stronger pass rush, by making it harder for o-lines to focus on KEVIN Williams, and he will help the Rush, because his large frame will clog the middle, giving opportunity for our Athletic Linebackers to come in and make plays. Fred Smoot is a great signing as well. The Vikings get a great #2 Corner to take pressure off of Antoine Winfield, and This allows the Vikings to entertain the idea of moving Brian Wiliams to either Saftey, or Nickle Corner. This will give the vikings much better roster flexibility, and a much stronger defense.
Donovan Darius Rumors
While many other newspapers have reported similar stories about Darius wanting to come to their teams, I can't help but speculate on how great it would be to have Darius on the Vikings. He is a great Saftey, and he would definately fill a need. Our Safteys came back to earth last year, after an amazing 2003 Season. Both Chavous and Russell will likely be out of a job next year if an adequate replacement is available. Darius could come cheap because he is demanding a trade, and the vikings could realistically send their 2nd rounder over for Darius. Grouping him with Winfield, Smoot, and Brian Williams, the Vikings Secondary coudl be viewed as a definate strength
Tice Ticket Scandal
This could turn into an ugly situation for Minnesota, and yet another black eye on the orginization. Tice is reportedly linked to a Ticket Scalping group, who sold Superbowl tickets at a profit. While i doubt Tice will be fired over this (we can only hope he will be) he will definately be on even thinner ice. Coaching Canidates are slim right now, and i think the vikings need to wait another year before they fire tice, considering we need a real replacement before we throw away our Coach.
